Ekolusion® Hemp fiber insulation is a plant-based insulation in which the raw material is Renewable and can be both cultivated and manufactured energy efficient with a low climate impact with respect to pesticides, carbon oxide emissions and artificial fertilisers. The CO2 binding of carbon dioxide, emissions is very impactful. In addition to avoiding energy losses, sound transmission and contribute to fire protection, hemp fiber insulation also allows reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, regulation of moisture levels and increased heat inertness in building structures.

Three characteristics that give bio-based insulation its high insulating ability are low thermal conductivity (lambda), high specific heat capacity (c) and moisture buffering. These three characteristics create a design that insulates effectively, has high resistance to temperature fluctuations and regulates the humidity of the indoor environment. The properties are made possible by applying diffusion-open designs, these allow a controlled low moisture flow in both directions. In this way, the design can both absorb and desorb (release) its moisture content effectively.

The hemp insulation is tested for fire resistance and reaction to fire. These fire grade are among the highest among bio-based materials with fire class D and have tried in designs with fire protection up EI120. Combining the insulation with fire-classified boards (gypsum, Recoma et al) allow builders to achieve the requirements of fire protection.

In the workplace, Ekolution's insulation is appreciated for it is pleasant work environment and is pleasant against the skin, respiratory tract and is very flexible to install.

Ekolution® Hemp fiber insulation "flexes" nicely and provides a good fit between the joists. The insulation can be cut with an oversize of up to 20-30 mm and then fit in. This gives fitters more tolerance and speeds up assembly.

Hemp fiber insulation has been tested for harmful emissions such as formaldehyde and VOCs, the result shows levels that are below limit values by about 100x. The reason is that the insulation consists of natural fiber, recycled textile binder and a food-grade mineral salt for fire protection that does not cause any harmful emissions. It does not itch and is therefore often appreciated in the workplace by fitters and craftsmen.
